Repair or Replace?

In a lot of cases, many garage door openers can be repaired without requiring a replacement. Our technicians arrive with a wide variety of parts in their trucks so they can service your opener on the first visit. 

There are still some cases however where a replacement might be necessary:

  • If the brand or manufacturer no longer exists, it may be hard to find replacement parts for your opener.
  • If a manufacturer has encountered many lawsuits due to safety, we don't feel comfortable repairing these openers for the safety of your family.
  • Federal regulations surrounding garage door openers were enacted in 1993. If your opener was installed prior to 1993, it may be time for a replacement. This is especially true if your opener does not have safety eyes, which is crucial for a safe operating garage door.

Common Garage Door Opener Issues

  • Noisy or Slow Operation: This issue may stem from worn components, insufficient lubrication, or misaligned tracks. Performing regular maintenance can help address and often resolve these concerns.
  • Safety Eye Issues: Misaligned or obstructed safety sensors can stop the door from closing. Cleaning the sensors or adjusting their alignment can often rectify the problem.
  • Door Won't Open or Close: This can occur due to power supply issues, a broken spring, or a misaligned safety sensor. Troubleshooting these factors or seeking professional repair is necessary to resolve the issue.
  • Motor Humming But Not Moving: A humming sound from the motor without movement usually indicates a malfunction with the motor or gears, which could be worn out or jammed, hindering the door's operation.
  • Remote Issues: Problems with the remote can arise from dead batteries, signal interference, or issues with the receiver. Simply replacing the batteries or reprogramming the remote may restore functionality.
